LAMMINRAHKA HALTIJAN HIRSI
A residential block of eight log-built semi-detached houses and two log-built apartment buildings are currently being built in Kangasala, Lamminrahka Haltijamäki in Finland. The log buildings were designed by Janne Kantee, architect SAFA.
Lamminrahka is a new residential area, situated close to nature, in Kangasala, in the vicinity of Tampere. The houses form a cosy and green residential block at the edge of the forest, in the middle of nature. Good public transport connections and amenities form a pleasant miniature city, where the forest is always visible.
In the area close to nature, the log structure is a very natural choice, for example, due to its small carbon footprint and healthy indoor air. The architecture of the log buildings in the area is modern and slick, and the large window surfaces bring the surrounding nature and the seasonal changes into the apartments.
