A) QUALITY AS A STARTING POINT, ONLY THE BEST QUALITY GRADES

We use only spruce wood A and B quality grades, although C is commonly used in the construction industry. For this reason, we are the only Finnish log house manufacturer, which has been issued a special Gl32h: Glued Laminated Timber tension strength grade for its beams. The quality grade of the wood is visible in the finished product by the small number and size of the branches. It also affects the final result of the treated surface, if you want to tint or paint the surface. A high quality grade house will last for decades.

B) AS A SPECIALITY, LAMINATED SPRUCE LOGS

Logs made of pine are usually used in the industry, but we mainly choose spruce. More than 90% of our customers choose spruce as the construction material for their log house or villa.

The moisture resistance of spruce is one of its most significant advantages in modern log houses. Its natural structure repels moisture more effectively than many other types of wood, making it an excellent choice even for challenging weather conditions. Additionally, spruce resin is contained in small “pockets” rather than being distributed throughout the wood, which minimizes the risk of resin leakage and ensures a clean finish.

The light color of spruce brings a natural brightness and airiness to the interiors of log houses. Its knots are more uniform and closer in color to the wood itself compared to pine, giving the construction materials a more cohesive and polished appearance. As it ages, spruce develops a beautiful beige patina, while pine tends to darken more noticeably.

Thanks to its moisture resistance and other outstanding properties, laminated spruce logs are the superior choice for both log houses and holiday villas.

C) NON-SETTLING LOG STRUCTURE PATENTED BY POLAR LIFE HAUS – AN ECOLOGICAL ALTERNATIVE TO A CLT STRUCTURE

Polar Life Haus’s patented non-settling log house, built using FIT technology, is the solution when you want a modern-looking, maintenance-free log house. When implemented with a special peg and screw technique, the log wall does not settle, so the use of settling boards and adjustment of legs is unnecessary.

Polar Life Haus’ non-settling structure differs significantly from that of other manufacturers. Instead of CLT, vertical lamellas or cross-gluing, we use our own patented peg and screw technique. Its benefits include the fact that the log wall remains straight and of high quality and does not curve even in varying weather conditions. The technique can be used with any solid laminated log that has a width of 200 mm or more.

D) HTWS WINDOWS ALLOW FOR WIDE GLASS SURFACES, GIVING A NATURAL CONTINUITY BETWEEN INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SPACES

HTWS is Polar Life Haus’ newest result of its own product development, a patented product of its own. HTWS windows have the characteristics of being very tight and warm. The windows have double glazing, which means better thermal insulation compared to normal insulating glass. As a standard, the U value is 0.5, which is better than for a so-called normal window (0.8). The windows use tempered glass and aluminium frames and can be integrated directly into the building structure, allowing for large glass surfaces. It is possible to use solar control glazing on the windows.

The HTWS frameless corner is a detail preferred by architects. The outer glass protects the edge of the joint, making the solution both very stylish and safe to use.

E) SOLID LOG IS AN ADDITIVE-FREE LOG OPTION MADE OF SPRUCE

Solid Log is a log solution made of solid wood, a 100% natural product. It contains no additives, and glue is only used for finger joints. Solid Log is Polar Life Haus’ new product, and it is manufactured without separate lamellas (a normal laminated log is a log made of several thinner wooden lamellas glued together). What makes the Polar Life Haus’ Solid Log exceptional is also the raw material, which is made of light spruce wood. In the past, solid wood logs could only be made from darker pine, but as a result of Polar Life Haus’ own product development and special expertise, it is also possible to make the Solid Log from spruce.

Solid Log is available in different sizes. The maximum possible width of the Solid Log can be up to 280 mm. A log house made of Solid Log can be built with a traditional oblong corner or with a so-called “city corner” without corners. Polar Life Haus’ non-settling log house can also be made of Solid Log.
